Refunds & Returns Policy

At Smart Select, your satisfaction is our priority. If you’re not completely happy with your purchase, we offer a 30-day return or replacement window to give you peace of mind when shopping with us.

Returns Eligibility

You may return your product within 30 days from the date of delivery, provided the following conditions are met:

  • The item must be returned in the same condition as received (i.e., unused or lightly used, depending on product type).
  • All original packaging, accessories, and manuals must be included.
  • The product must not show any physical damage, such as cracks, water damage, or signs of misuse.
  • The IMEI or serial number must match the one we shipped.
  • Returns must be pre-approved and follow our returns process.

Items returned that do not meet these conditions may be subject to a restocking fee or denied refund.

Change-of-Mind Returns (No Fault with the Device)

If there is nothing wrong with the device and you’d simply like to return it because you’ve changed your mind — or for any reason that is not a valid manufacturer defect — the following applies:

  • Returned brand new, sealed, and unopened (exactly as we delivered it): you’ll receive a full refund.
  • Returned opened or unsealed: because the device is now considered second-hand, a 10% handling fee will be deducted from your refund.

This fee reflects the fact that once a sealed device has been opened, it can no longer be sold as brand new.

Replacements & Faulty Devices

We offer free replacements within 30 days for devices that are found to be factory defective (not caused by user damage or misuse).

  • Replacements will be made for the same make and model originally purchased.
  • Issues such as non-functioning batteries, charging ports, or screens due to manufacturer defects will qualify for replacement.
  • Cosmetic changes or preference swaps (e.g., different colour or storage capacity) are not covered under the replacement policy.

If you’d like to upgrade or switch to another model, we can assist with a buyback or trade-in offer at market-related pricing.

Refunds

Refunds are only processed once the device has been returned to us and inspected. After inspection and approval, we will issue your refund using your original payment method within 5–7 business days.

  • For bank EFT payments, please ensure your banking details are provided for faster processing.
  • Refunds may be partial if the device shows wear, missing items, or a breach of return terms.
  • Where a 10% second-hand handling fee applies (see Change-of-Mind Returns above), this will be deducted before the refund is issued.

Return Shipping & Courier Costs

  • The customer is responsible for the cost of couriering the device back to our office.
  • Alternatively, we can arrange the courier on your behalf, in which case the applicable courier fee will apply and may be deducted from your refund or invoiced separately.
  • No courier fee will apply if you arrange your own courier or drop the device off in person at one of our collection points (Midrand, Durban, or Cape Town).

How to Start a Return or Replacement

  1. Contact us via email or WhatsApp with your order number and the reason for return.
  2. We’ll guide you through the return approval process and provide a return address.
  3. Once we receive and inspect the product, we’ll process your refund or replacement accordingly.

Non-Returnable Items

The following items do not qualify for return or replacement:

  • Devices damaged due to drops, liquid exposure, or unauthorized repairs
  • Missing or altered IMEI/serial numbers
  • Items returned after 30 days
  • Opened accessories such as earphones, screen protectors, or cables (unless faulty)
